Iranian Counterattacks Against Israel Leave Dozens Dead and Injured

Iranian counterattacks against Israel have left at least 11 dead and 456 injured, including a bombing this Sunday against a synagogue in Beit Shemesh, south of Jerusalem, in which nine people died. Spokespeople for the national emergency systems and the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed that an Iranian rocket hit an air-raid shelter in Beit Shemesh, a predominantly Orthodox Jewish city a few kilometers from Jerusalem. According to the Argentine News Agency, one of the fatal victims in Beit Shemesh was a woman who suffocated trying to reach a nearby air-raid shelter,” reported from Israel journalist Gabriel Ben Tasgal. In an interview with Radio Rivadavia, the journalist recounted that the missile that caused nine deaths “fell in Beit Shemesh, south of Jerusalem,” and targeted “a synagogue where nine people lost their lives.” He explained that it is “a city that is poorer than the rest of the country” and estimated that the number of victims “may have been influenced by the architecture of the place and that they have less protection in the bomb shelter”.
