Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Hamas about the consequences of not releasing the hostages, suspending the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. Netanyahu stated that there will be no 'free meals' and that Hamas is mistaken if it believes it can continue enjoying the truce without releasing the hostages.
According to Netanyahu, Hamas controls all the supplies sent to Gaza and has also accused the Islamist group of abusing the population and using humanitarian aid for terrorist purposes. The Israeli leader has made it clear that they will not accept this situation and that it was expected that the second phase of the ceasefire would begin, but negotiations have not reached a conclusion.
On the other hand, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz thanked the Trump Administration for the arms sale to Israel worth $4 billion. This sale is framed in the context of what Katz described as a 'just and prolonged war' in which Israel needs to defend itself.
Arms sales to Israel under the Trump Administration have reached nearly $12 billion, with a recent announcement to send 1,800 MK-84 bombs to the country. Netanyahu has expressed Israel's willingness to continue the dialogue proposed by the United States in order to reach an agreement on the current situation.
