On Thursday, the Israeli army announced the death of an officer and a soldier, as well as the wounding of 8 more soldiers as a result of a crash at the northern edge of the Gaza sector, Israeli television channel 13 reported.
"The spokesperson for the Israeli army stated that an officer was killed during military drills, and this was related to the troops stationed at a location meant to thwart potential terrorist attacks."
"As a result, the injured soldiers were transported to hospitals for treatment, while the army initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the incident," the spokesperson added.
