Children Dying of Cold in Gaza as Doctors Without Borders Calls for Increased Aid

Yesterday, Friday, the organization Doctors Without Borders warned that children in the Gaza Strip are dying from the cold and called on Israel to allow an increase in humanitarian aid to enable Palestinians to withstand the cold weather. The organization added: "Despite all treatment attempts, it was not possible to save the child's life, as he died due to a sharp drop in body temperature." According to the head of nursing at Nasser Hospital, Bilal Abu Saada, "Children are dying because they have been deprived of the basic means of survival. Infants arrive suffering from the cold, and their vital signs are critical." Yesterday, Friday, Israel continued to violate the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, resuming airstrikes on Khan Younis and shelling several areas in the sector, resulting in casualties. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization announced that more than a thousand patients have died in Gaza while awaiting evacuation since mid-2024. The United Nations declared that the famine in the region has ended, but living conditions in Gaza remain extremely dire despite a slight improvement in aid delivery. The International Organization for Migration confirmed that Israeli restrictions are preventing the delivery of life-saving shelter aid to Gaza. The organization stated in a report: "A 29-day-old infant died at Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza just two hours after arriving in the pediatric department supported by Doctors Without Borders." Israeli aircraft launched airstrikes on several areas in the Gaza Strip amid continued military escalation in the occupied territories.
