The Department of Veterans' Rehabilitation in the Israeli Ministry of Defense has announced the launch of a new program to assist soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This program proposes the use of virtual reality in the rehabilitation process of veterans, which is expected to enhance the effectiveness of their treatment.
As part of the new initiative, program participants will have the opportunity to engage in specially developed exercises in virtual reality. This will help create a controlled environment that allows soldiers to gradually become accustomed to situations that trigger their stress. Specialists believe that such an approach will help combatants cope more successfully with the consequences of traumatic experiences.
One of the program participants is Moshe, a veteran of combat operations, who noted: "This is really helping me work on my fears and anxieties. I feel more confident in everyday life." The Department of Veterans' Rehabilitation hopes that the new program will become an effective tool for supporting military personnel suffering from PTSD.
