Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu defended Elon Musk following the controversy generated by a gesture that many compared to the Nazi salute during Donald Trump's inauguration in the United States. Netanyahu expressed gratitude for the mogul's commitment to the Jewish people, highlighting his friendship with Israel.
Elon Musk, who has maintained a close relationship with Trump since the campaign, was one of the special guests at the ceremony held at the Capitol alongside other leaders from major tech companies in the country. During the event, Musk raised his arm toward the sky, a gesture that sparked controversy by being compared to the Nazi salute.
In another incident, Elon Musk insulted German Chancellor Olaf Scholz after Scholz mentioned that in Germany, statements supporting far-right positions are not accepted, despite the existence of freedom of expression in the country. The mogul responded with an insult through his social media.
In response, Netanyahu acknowledged Musk's position, mentioning his support for Israel following an attack that occurred in the country. He also emphasized the mogul's repeated defense of the Jewish state's right to protect itself from terrorist attacks. However, he did not endorse statements that could be interpreted as support for extremist positions.
The incident with Scholz is not the first in which Musk has insulted German leaders. The founder of Tesla and SpaceX has shown support for far-right parties, generating controversy surrounding his statements and political positions.
