In a tragic event at a military post in the West Bank, two Israeli reservists lost their lives during a confrontation with a Palestinian terrorist. The incident took place in a watchtower where eleven soldiers and their commander were present.

The attacker, dressed in a military vest and armed with an M-16 assault rifle and two magazines, surprised the soldiers shortly before 6:00 a.m. during the night. There was a short-range exchange of gunfire that lasted several minutes, culminating in the neutralization and elimination of the terrorist by two other Israeli fighters.

One of the deceased was identified as first sergeant (reserve) Ofer Yung, 39, from Tel Aviv, who served as a platoon commander in Battalion 8211 of the Efraim Regional Brigade. The name of the second fallen soldier has not yet been disclosed.

Additionally, two reservists were severely injured and six suffered minor injuries in the altercation. The Israel Defense Forces reported that the confrontation took place at a military post near the Palestinian town of Taysir in Samaria, an area located in the northern West Bank. The facility where the attack occurred serves as a road checkpoint on the route connecting Samaria with the Jordan Valley.

During the confrontation, a Hermes UAV drone monitored the terrorist from the air but was eventually shot down by the soldiers on the ground. The intervention of the Israeli fighters allowed for the neutralization of the attacker and the ending of the threat. The loss of these reservists has been a devastating blow to their families and to the entire military community in Israel.
