Iair Horn, 46 years old, will be released tomorrow along with two other hostages after being kidnapped on October 7 during the attack carried out by the Hamas group in southern Israel. His younger brother, Eitan Horn, 38 years old, also kidnapped in the same attack, remains in captivity. The October 7 attack, known as 'BLACK SATURDAY', took place in Kibbutz Nir Oz, the community where both brothers lived.
Since then, Ruthy has continued her fight for the release of her children, highlighting the strength they find in being together. For his part, the brothers' father, Itzik Horn, a journalist and educator, has demanded that both the Israeli and Argentine governments intensify efforts to achieve the release of all hostages. He also held the Israeli government responsible for the situation, urging them to maintain pressure on those responsible.
Along with Iair Horn, Sasha Trufanov, a 29-year-old Russian-Israeli young man, and Sagui Dekel-Chen, 36 years old, of American descent, will also be released. Trufanov was kidnapped along with his family in Nir Oz, where his father was killed. Hamas terrorists burst in from the Gaza Strip, brutally attacking civilians, military bases, and the Nova Music Festival, resulting in hundreds of deaths and numerous kidnappings.
In previous statements, he recounted how the last communication with his children went on the day of the attack when he asked them if they were safe in Iair's shelter. In videos circulated by the Islamic Jihad, the young man expressed his anguish and asked the Israeli government to prioritize the lives of the hostages. Sagui Dekel-Chen, for his part, was kidnapped after protecting his family by locking them in a safe room.
Dekel-Chen's Kibbutz suffered devastating losses, with 59 members killed and many homes destroyed. While the release of these hostages represents a partial relief, the families of those still in Hamas's hands continue to demand immediate action for their rescue. At the Habonim Dror headquarters, a flag was hung with the message: 'FAT GUYS, WE ARE STILL LOOKING FOR YOU.'
Ruthy Chmiel Strum, mother of Iair and Eitan, expressed her hope that both are alive. 'YES, WE ARE HERE,' they responded, unaware of the magnitude of what was happening. His wife gave birth to their third child two months after the attack, whom they named Shachar, meaning 'THE FIRST LIGHT AFTER DARKNESS.'
