Israel Releases 369 Palestinian Prisoners

This Saturday, Israeli authorities carried out the release of 369 Palestinian prisoners and detainees as part of the sixth prisoner exchange for hostages between Israel and Hamas. Abdullah al-Zaghari, director of the Palestinian Prisoners' Club, detailed that among those released were 36 serving life sentences and 333 detainees arrested by Israel in the Gaza Strip following the attack on October 7, 2023.

Witnesses reported that the prisoners were received in the Courtyard of the Cultural Palace of Ramallah in the presence of the Red Cross and their families. Previously, it was reported that Israeli forces intervened in Beitunia, west of Ramallah, to prevent Palestinians from gathering near Ofer prison, where the release of the first prisoners would take place.

Meanwhile, Hamas and Islamic Jihad released three Israeli hostages held in Gaza, confirmed by Israeli authorities upon their arrival in the country. The ceasefire agreement, in effect since January 19 with a duration of six weeks, includes the release of 33 Israeli hostages in exchange for about 2,000 Palestinians. To date, 19 Israeli hostages and five Thais have been released.
