Israel and Hamas have agreed to release the six hostages who are still alive in Gaza as part of the first stage of the ceasefire. The agreement includes the delivery of the bodies of four hostages this Thursday and another four next week, according to Netanyahu's office.
A senior Hamas official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the proposal involves the immediate release of all Israeli prisoners held by Hamas in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli custody. Although he did not specify whether this proposal corresponds to the first stage of the agreement or if it is related to the next phase of negotiations.
For its part, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem stated in a statement the movement's willingness to carry out a prisoner exchange in the second stage, emphasizing that such an agreement must be linked to a permanent ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of Israel from the Gaza Strip.
Israel has yet to issue an official response to the proposal, while international efforts to encourage negotiations continue. Hamas has communicated that through mediators it has presented Israel with a proposal for a complete exchange of prisoners for hostages, based on the principle of 'all for all', as part of ongoing talks.
