The Israeli army has killed more than 40 Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip since January 19, when the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas came into effect. In the last 24 hours, Israeli forces killed at least three Palestinians in Gaza, ignoring the ceasefire, as confirmed by the Gaza Health Ministry.
On Wednesday, Israeli forces shot dead a 16-year-old boy, identified as Mahmud Ibrahim Abu Zakar, in the Rafah area, in the southern tip of the Gaza Strip, according to local sources.
In the past 24 hours, rescue teams in the Strip recovered two bodies from the rubble and a previously injured Palestinian died. The total number of deaths from Israeli fire since the onset of the war has reached 48,297 Palestinian people. Another 111,733 have been injured since October 2023, and it is estimated that the bodies of thousands of missing persons remain under the debris in the Strip.
The Israeli army has claimed that in recent weeks, it has fired upon Palestinian individuals in the southern Gaza Strip, considering them "suspicious," without providing further evidence. It has also maintained a military presence in southern Gaza and has launched airstrikes in the central Strip.
Despite the ceasefire in Gaza, Israeli settlers have increased violence against Palestinians in the West Bank. Attacks on Palestinians and their properties doubled in January compared to the same month the previous year, according to data from the Commission for Resistance to Colonization and the Wall.
In January, following the truce in Gaza, Israel carried out a massive operation against the Palestinian population in the West Bank, resulting in the displacement of around 40,000 Palestinians. The Jenin refugee camp has become a ghost town, with the Israeli Defense Minister warning of maintaining a military presence in the area even after the offensive ends.
The Israeli retaliation in the West Bank has resulted in the deaths of 916 Palestinians, including 183 Palestinian children and adolescents, according to reports from Wafa.
