The Israeli Army has confirmed the identification of the bodies of Ariel and Kfir Bibas, after completing the identification process in cooperation with the Israeli Police. However, the third body delivered by Hamas does not correspond to their mother, Shiri Bibas.
"According to the assessment of professional authorities and forensic findings, Ariel and Kfir Bibas were brutally murdered in captivity in November 2023 by terrorists," representatives of the IDF informed the Bibas family.
The additional body received did not correspond to Shiri Bibas or any other captive, being an anonymous body. The children's father, Yarden Bibas, had been released earlier in a prisoner exchange in February.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed his sorrow and described the Hamas militants as "monsters," stating: "My own heart is torn apart." A difficult day is expected for Israel tomorrow, the army's statement affirmed.
The nation is in mourning, and the affected families are being embraced in this painful moment.
