Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced that the military incursion in northern West Bank will continue until the year 2025. Katz stated that the 40,000 Palestinians displaced from refugee camps in Tubas, Tulkarem, and Jenin will not be able to return to their homes, with the aim of preventing the resurgence of terrorism.
In statements, Katz mentioned that they have instructed the army to maintain a prolonged presence in the evacuated camps. The minister described the situation as a war against Islamic terrorism in Judea and Samaria, terms used in Israel to refer to the West Bank.
During the military operation called 'Iron Wall', thousands of Palestinians left their homes in the mentioned refugee camps. The UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, has suspended its activities in the camps, including the operation of clinics and schools for security reasons.
The Israeli army has announced the mobilization of a tank division in Jenin, where multiple casualties and displacements have been reported. The military operations aim to eradicate the terrorist infrastructure and weapons in the region. It has been reported that hundreds of homes have been destroyed in Jenin, as well as damage to infrastructure in Tulkarem and Nur Shams.
Israel has indicated that the offensive will expand to villages near Jenin. Minister Katz emphasized that operations will continue until terrorism is completely eliminated in the region.
