The leader of the Israeli opposition Yair Lapid suggested on Tuesday that Egypt manage the Gaza sector for at least eight years after the end of the war between Israel and Hamas.
Lapid emphasized that such a step could prevent more deadly conflicts in the near future. "Hamas is a criminal organization that destroys the rights of its residents. We need to create a humanitarian alternative. This is in the interests of all: Israel, Egypt, and good people in Gaza," Lapid said.
Lapid's proposal sparked a wide resonance in Israeli society and provoked active discussion about how to ensure the safety and well-being of residents, not only in Israel but also for the Gaza sector as a whole.
