Israel Releases 42 Detained as Ceasefire Agreement

Israel has freed 42 prisoners from the last group as part of the first stage of the ceasefire agreement.

Among the freed were prisoners convicted of killing Israelis, including Maher al-Akhras, accused of murdering an Israeli agent and sentenced to 30 years. Many of the prisoners were reunited with their families with joy and emotions.

The release of prisoners is part of the agreement between Israel and Hamas, specifically designed to secure a ceasefire after 11 days of fighting in the Mediterranean region.
