
The government of Israel has begun the procedure for the removal of its judge Galit Baharav-Miara, who spoke out against the government as part of a protracted contract for raising salaries in court. Baharav-Miara has become a symbol of organized protest for many opponents of the Israeli government.
"I did everything I could to find a compromise and prevent the position of a wide spectrum of consequences," she said in a letter to the head of the government, addressing the prime minister.
