The Organization of United Nations warned about "serious consequences" for the civilian population in the Gaza sector as a result of Israel's actions.
A representative of the organization, speaking at a briefing, emphasized: "It is extremely important to adopt immediate measures to ease tensions and avoid humanitarian catastrophe."
In turn, the UN Secretary-General stated the following: "The situation in Gaza requires the utmost attention. Immediate cessation of hostilities and the beginning of negotiations for the restoration of peace is essential."
The organization emphasized the necessity to protect the civilian population and humanitarian objects in the region, calling on all parties to adhere to international humanitarian law.
"No further deterioration of the situation can be allowed; this is unacceptable from a humanitarian standpoint," the UN stated.
