
Israeli airstrikes led to the deaths of several high-ranking officials of the Hamas government during a massive attack in the Gaza Strip early Tuesday morning, according to Palestinian medical and security sources.
Among the deceased, at least five high-ranking officials and their families were affected, security sources from the Hamas government reported to Xinhua news agency. Issam al-Daalis, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau and head of the Government Monitoring Committee in Gaza; Ahmed Omar al-Hatta, deputy minister of the Hamas Ministry of Justice; Mahmoud Abu Watfa, deputy minister of the Hamas Ministry of Interior; Bahjat Hassan Abu Sultan, general director of the Hamas Internal Security Service; and Abu Obeida al-Jamasi, a member of the Hamas Political Bureau and head of the Emergency Committee in Gaza, were among the officials killed, according to the sources.
The losses reveal a significant impact on the leadership structure of Hamas in Gaza as a result of the Israeli airstrikes. The escalation of violence in the region has taken a heavy toll on human lives, causing shock and concern in the international community.
