On Tuesday, Hamas accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of initiating aggression in the Gaza Strip, which they labeled a "genocidal war" aimed at civilians. In a press release, the group held Israel responsible for the consequences of this escalation and accused it of attacking civilians under a suffocating blockade and policies of starvation.
Hamas also claimed that Netanyahu and his Government deliberately annulled a ceasefire agreement, endangering the lives of prisoners in Gaza. The movement urged international mediators to hold Israel accountable for violating the agreement and to immediately stop the aggression.
Furthermore, Hamas called on the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the United Nations, and the UN Security Council to take urgent action to support the Palestinian people, lift the siege on Gaza, and compel Israel to halt the aggression according to resolution 2735, which demands an end to hostilities and withdrawal from Gaza.
These statements came after the Israeli Army carried out a series of intense airstrikes in Gaza, marking the first significant military action since the ceasefire agreement of January 19, according to the Xinhua news agency.
