More than 30 independent experts, collaborating with the United Nations Organization, called on states to intervene now to prevent the destruction of Palestinians in the Gaza sector.
The experts noted that recent conflicts in Gaza resulted in numerous civilian casualties and destruction, stressing the importance of immediate intervention by the international community. They also expressed deep concern about gross human rights violations occurring in the region and called for compliance with international humanitarian law.
Mr. Javier Erno, a special rapporteur on human rights, supported this statement and reminded the obligation of states to protect the rights of all people, regardless of their status.
