Israel on Sunday received through the International Committee of the Red Cross remains that Hamas movement says belong to Israeli officer Hadar Goldin, who was killed in the Gaza Strip in 2014. Forensic experts in Israel are expected to examine the remains after their receipt and confirm their identity. A statement issued by the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu read: "Israel received, via the International Committee of the Red Cross, a casket of a hostage who was killed and transferred to the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet security service inside the Gaza Strip." Earlier on Sunday, Hamas's military wing in the Gaza Strip announced its intention to hand over Goldin's remains. In a statement, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades said: "As part of the 'Al-Aqsa Flood' prisoner exchange deal, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades will hand over the body of officer Hadar Goldin, which was found yesterday (Saturday) in the track of one of the tunnels in the Yabna camp in the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip." Under the October ceasefire agreement, Hamas handed over all 20 remaining alive hostages held in Gaza since the movement's attack on Israel, in exchange for the release of about 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees in Israel. The ceasefire agreement also included the handover of the remains of 28 Israeli hostages in exchange for the remains of 360 Palestinian militants.
