Israeli Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer, who led ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, has resigned from his ministerial post following the release of hostages held in the enclave. Dermer was Israel's chief negotiator in the talks in Sharm el-Sheikh and led intensive negotiations over several months that led to a ceasefire agreement and an exchange of hostages and prisoners, which came into effect on October 10. Dermer said in his resignation letter, published on the X platform on Tuesday evening, that 'the government will be judged on its handling of the October 7th attack and the war that followed for two years'.
