Four Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrike on Gaza

Four Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a vehicle in the Tel al-Hawa area in southwest Gaza City on Saturday afternoon, according to civil defense and medical sources. An Israeli military official confirmed that Hamas leader Raa'id Sa'd was killed in an Israeli strike on Gaza. The Israeli military had earlier stated that it had targeted a Hamas-affiliated person in Gaza City without providing further details. When asked by AFP, the Israeli military did not clarify whether the strike that hit Tel al-Hawa was the same operation mentioned in its military statement. Hamas condemned in a statement what it described as "a further criminal violation of the ceasefire agreement," without referring to the Israeli announcement about targeting one of its leaders. Mahmoud Bassem, a spokesperson for civil defense, told AFP: "We transferred four martyrs following the targeting of a civilian jeep near the Nablus roundabout in the Tel al-Hawa area." Bassem noted that the four bodies transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City were charred, explaining that "the Israeli warplane targeted the civilian vehicle with three missiles, leading to its burning and destruction." The reception and emergency department at Al-Shifa Hospital confirmed to AFP the arrival of "the bodies of the four martyhs." Witnesses reported that four Israeli drones were flying at a low altitude concurrently with the airstrike that targeted the vehicle west of Gaza City. One witness, a displaced man in his fifties living in the Tel al-Hawa area, told AFP: "The warplanes fired several missiles towards the vehicle, and it caught fire. Citizens rushed to extinguish the fire, and there were charred remains on the ground." Another witness, a 34-year-old man living in a tent in the Tel al-Hawa area, said: "The bodies and charred remains were transferred to the hospital, and several drones (Zanana) remained in the sky for a few minutes." He added, "I saw a number of Hamas elements arrive at the target site" without further details.
