Israel's Internal Security Service (Shin Bet) said on Friday that a Russian citizen has been charged with spying for Iran, including photographing Israeli ports and infrastructure at the direction of Iranian intelligence. The shadow war that has simmered for decades between Israel and Iran escalated into a direct war in June; when Israel struck various targets inside Iran, including operations that involved the deployment of Israeli intelligence agency (Mossad) commando units deep inside the country. Israel has arrested dozens of citizens on charges of spying for Iran, while Iran has executed numerous individuals.
