Society has changed a lot since October 7th. Many who believed that talking was enough have now realized what this group can do if given the chance. «Without weapons, we wouldn't exist tomorrow. We are shocked and very sensitive since October 7th,» he remarked.
Daily life in the hospital and a reflection
The cardiologist also referred to Israel's preparation to withstand potential attacks. «We are very well prepared, the hospitals have prepared themselves. This hospital is not operating at full capacity because of a missile that hit us 7 months ago, the damage was great, but we continue to work in places that are prepared against missiles and in a kind of shelters where the operating rooms function and we continue to attend as always,» he argued.
For the latter, the doctor left the following reflection: «There are people who think like me and people who don't think like me, but I can't imagine a world where Iran can have an atomic bomb and distribute it to extremist groups and we all live in suspense, this has to be stopped, this cannot continue and we cannot always live the Jews under threat of destruction».
Buenos Aires, March 1 (NA) - Gabriel Rosentein, an Argentine cardiologist who works in an Israeli hospital, told how Israeli society is living through these moments of turmoil.
«Living like this is crazy. The biggest problem I see is people with small children and the elderly who have trouble moving to shelters and decide not to do so,» he said regarding the ballistic missiles that Iran sent after the bombing of Israel and the United States.
«Everything is quite complicated, living under bombardment and with constant alarms and running to the shelters is not very pleasant, but obviously it is something that Israel had to do, after the unfinished 12-day war where apparently very little has been solved,» added the doctor in statements to Radio Rivadavia that were collected by the Argentine News Agency.
«Today we had a good example of what it means to have ballistic missiles in the hands of a country like Iran, with a single missile it killed 9 people in a shelter and injured many more,» explained Rosentein.
Israel cannot allow Iran, which swears to destroy the State of Israel, to have these ballistic missiles, let alone atomic weapons that would be a madness for the whole world.
The number of alarms in the south was much lower than in the center or north of the country, but it is still complicated, especially considering that the shelters we have in our homes are for short-range missiles with limited power, and not for this type of missiles, that in a direct impact the chances of survival are very few, today we had a very good example of that.
Life after October 7, 2023
Rosentein referred to the change he noticed in Israeli society after October 7, 2023 (the date on which Hamas launched a massive surprise attack from Gaza against Israel, resulting in the death of more than 1,100 people).
