The Israeli army demolished on Thursday an office of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the Nur Shams refugee camp located east of the city of Tulkarem in northern West Bank.
Nihad al-Shawish, head of the camp's services committee, reported that Israeli bulldozers demolished the UNRWA office located in the middle of the camp. He added that the camp houses two UNRWA schools, one for girls and another for boys, which provide educational services to over 1,500 students.
Additionally, the camp has a health center that provides primary medical services, such as reproductive health, neonatal and pediatric care, vaccinations, and medical check-ups, along with a dental clinic, all operated by the UNRWA office.
So far, the Israeli side has not made comments on the incident. It is noteworthy that the previous Monday, the Knesset, or Israeli Parliament, passed a law prohibiting UNRWA from operating in Israel.
