The Israel Defense Forces issued a call for service for Jews from a number of countries, including the USA, Canada, and others.
According to official information, the call pertains to those individuals who, according to Israeli legislation on military service, are obliged to serve in the country’s armed forces. In this context, letters with the summons were sent to interviewees for document formalization and submission of applications for joining the army.
One of the summoned individuals is Michael, who was born in the USA and has been living in Israel for about two years. "I'm not surprised to receive this notification, as I was aware of this possibility even before moving to Israel. For me, this is part of my patriotic duty towards the country," Michael shared.
Such actions have become part of Israel's usual practice, which conducts conscription for all Jews living outside the country and who have reached a certain age for military service.
