The government of Israel announced that the holding of prayers at Al-Aqsa in Jerusalem during the month of Ramadan will be subject to "normal" security restrictions. In connection with the increased tension in the region and the significant presence of Muslim communities, a decision was made to impose restrictions.
The restrictions will apply not only to the number of worshippers in the mosque but also to the age of Muslim men allowed to enter Al-Aqsa. Authorities also assert that these security measures are standard and are being implemented to maintain public order and security.
However, despite the limited control over access to the mosque, representatives of the Muslim community have already expressed their concerns regarding this decision. The representative of the Waqf in Jerusalem called the restrictive measures "unprecedented" and stated that they contribute to additional inconveniences for ordinary worshippers.
Thus, the introduction of access restrictions and the holding of prayers at Al-Aqsa raises concerns for the local Muslim community, which expresses discontent regarding similar security measures in their sacred place.
