Tensions Rise in Jerusalem Over Gaza Conflict

After Israel launched air strikes against Gaza again, some recently released Israeli hostages expressed their fear and frustration. Yarden Bibas, who was released after 484 days of captivity, urged the government to prioritize the release of the remaining 59 hostages through negotiations rather than military pressure. Families announced the creation of a protest camp in Jerusalem in response to the resumption of attacks.

France condemned the attacks and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities to avoid risking the lives of civilians in Gaza. Additionally, it urged Israel to ensure the protection of all civilians and allow humanitarian aid into the region. Russia also lamented the resumption of attacks and called for an end to violence in order to achieve an agreement.

Romi Gonen, who was released in January, recalled the moments of anguish during her captivity and called for all hostages to be brought back home. Omer Wenkert, another former hostage, expressed his urgency and called for an end to the fighting and to seek a peaceful solution. Both France and Russia condemned any action that endangers the civilian population and emphasized the need to avoid further damage in the region.
