German Chancellor Friedrich Merz described on Tuesday an Israeli government project to build a new settlement on the outskirts of Jerusalem as a "big mistake".
Merz expressed concern about this step, noting that it could negatively affect the peace process in the region. He believes that such actions only exacerbate tensions between Israelis and Palestinians.
"This is a big mistake," the chancellor emphasized, adding that Germany calls on the parties to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to resolve the conflict.
