Israel Informs on Hostage Situation Amid Negotiations

Israeli authorities have decided to enable checkpoints to allow thousands of Palestinians to return to northern Gaza. In the first phase of release, there are 33 names on the list, of which seven have already returned to Israel. Among those released are women, children from the Bibas family from Argentina, men over 50 years old, and severely ill or injured individuals.

David Mencer, a spokesman for the Israeli government, informed families about the situation in a press conference held on Monday. According to the Israeli government, eight of the hostages that could be released by Hamas have died, according to the list provided by the terrorist organization.

Of the 26 remaining hostages that are to return to their country as agreed, only 18 are still alive. After intense negotiations, Israel received a list from Hamas detailing the situation of all the hostages, alive or dead, that can be released in the first stage of the agreement, as stated in a statement from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Hamas has announced the release of three hostages on Thursday, including Arbel Yehud, a civilian who, according to Israel, should have been released in the last exchange, and three others on Saturday.
