Documentary Highlights Latin American Impact in Israel

The documentary series "Witnesses of Terror," produced by Fuente Latina, narrates the massacre of October 7, which was the bloodiest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust, focusing on the experiences of the Spanish-speaking community in Israel. It also explores the unique migratory experiences of Latinos in Israel, an important part of the population that played a key role in the establishment of some kibbutzim near the Gaza border. After the attack, Fuente Latina filmmakers traveled to Israel to interview Latin American immigrants who survived the massacre in their communities and at the Nova festival.

In the four episodes of "Witnesses of Terror," unique Latin stories about what happened are presented. The first episode focuses on the kibbutz Ein HaShlosha, where Hamas killed civilians, burned homes, and took hostages. The second installment recounts how the Nova music festival became a killing field. Mourning, pain, and uncertainty persist in Israel more than 500 days after the worst terrorist attack in the country's history, carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023, in which 364 people died.

Among the accounts presented in the documentary, the story of the Bibas family, of Argentine-Peruvian descent, stands out. Yarden Bibas, kidnapped and released 484 days later, his wife Shiri Bibas, and their children Ariel and Kfir, aged four years and nine months respectively, were hostages during the conflict. Additionally, the case of a young Colombian woman who lost all her friends at the Nova festival is highlighted.

The documentary aims to raise awareness of Latin American migration to Israel, showcasing survival stories and the struggle of families to obtain information about their loved ones. With impactful testimonies, the documentary series seeks to sensitize the audience regardless of their origin or age. All recordings will be archived in the U.S. Library of Congress and the USC Shoah Foundation, and will be presented before The Hague.
