Gaza Government Accuses Israel of Slow Death and Truce Violations

The Gaza government, dependent on Hamas, accused Israel yesterday of subjecting the Strip to a 'slow death' and allowing only 41% of the necessary humanitarian aid to enter during the 80-day ceasefire, during which it has committed 969 violations of the truce, according to the government.

In a statement, the Gaza Executive indicates that during the ceasefire, which came into effect on October 10, Israeli forces have killed 418 Palestinians and injured another 1,141, and committed 'serious and systematic violations of the agreement' and its attached humanitarian protocol.

Among the 969 violations cited are 298 incidents of direct fire against civilians, 54 incursions of military vehicles into residential areas, 455 bombings and 'selective attacks' against unarmed civilians and their homes, as well as 162 bombings and destruction of homes, institutions and civilian buildings.
