The Israeli military clarified that the 'precautionary alert aims to prepare the public for the possibility of rockets being launched towards our land.' Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced on Saturday morning that Israel had conducted a 'preemptive strike' against Iran. The American New York Times also cited an American official as saying that 'US strikes on Iran are being prepared.' Gallant also stated in a statement that he had declared a state of emergency across the country, saying: 'Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran to eliminate any threats it faces.' The intense strikes carried out by the Israeli military on Tehran led to the closure of Israeli airspace. Air raid sirens sounded in areas within Israel, and a military message stated: 'Due to the security situation, civilians must ensure they know the nearest safe shelters and avoid unnecessary travel.' It is also mentioned that the strikes target 'sites from which Iran could launch attacks on Israel.' News agencies reported that the United States is participating in the strikes on Iran alongside Israel. Israeli Channel 12, citing an Israeli security source, reported that the ongoing operation in Iran is a joint operation between the United States and Israel.
