The attack was the result of months of intelligence work and prompted an immediate retaliatory strike from Iran against US bases in the region.

Israel and US Strike Iran, Causing Dozens of Casualties

Israel and the US launched a joint large-scale operation against targets in Tehran and other Iranian cities, such as Tabriz (northwest) and Isfahan (center), causing dozens of casualties in Iranian territory, including 53 girls in one school. The attack was based on an operational plan developed over several months, focused on intelligence efforts to identify an opportunity for action when high-ranking regime officials would meet. According to an official, Israel and the US launched a wave of attacks against 'hundreds' of targets in Iranian territory after working together for 'thousands of hours' to 'build the most valuable and extensive possible target bank.' Israel killed 'several key figures essential for the management of the campaign and the government of Iran' before simultaneously attacking three locations where regime officials were holding meetings. 'In recent months, the number of targets has increased by several hundred percent,' the source added. In response, Iran extended its military retaliation to US military bases across the Middle East and launched about ten waves of missile attacks against Israel throughout the day, sounding alarms across the country. Israeli authorities have only reported one minor injury from these attacks in the coastal city of Haifa, which was attacked several times during the so-called twelve-day war with Iran last June for hosting strategic targets such as a refinery.
