The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out attacks against Hezbollah's infrastructure in Beirut, focusing on command centers and 10 multi-story buildings, the IDF reported this Friday. The IDF statement added that Israeli forces took precautionary measures before the attacks, including warnings, precision weapons, and aerial surveillance. Dahieh, a Hezbollah stronghold in southern Beirut, has been hit by 26 waves of Israeli airstrikes since the current conflict escalated. Israeli airstrikes struck areas across Lebanon overnight Thursday and into early Friday, with southern Beirut suburbs, southern Lebanon, and the Bekaa Valley being the most affected amid rising military tension. According to the state-owned Lebanese National News Agency, the attacks came after the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings to residents of several neighborhoods in the southern suburbs, causing widespread panic. A large number of people fled their homes, causing severe traffic congestion on roads leading out of the suburbs, and witnesses reported that surrounding roads were congested, especially as some families began evacuating after the airstrikes had already begun. Local media reported that the bombardment caused powerful explosions that shook Beirut and surrounding areas, as Israeli warplanes continued intense flights over the capital and the Lebanese mountains. It was also reported that some families are leaving the Palestinian refugee camp of Sabra in Beirut amid rising tension following Israeli warnings. At the same time, several hospitals and health centers in the southern suburbs implemented emergency measures, evacuating certain wards and transferring patients to safer locations due to fears that the airstrikes could spread. Meanwhile, Hezbollah declared in a statement that it had issued a warning in Hebrew to residents of northern Israeli settlements located less than five kilometers from the border, urging them to move further south. On Monday, Hezbollah fired missiles and drones toward Israel and claimed the attacks were in retaliation for the killing of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, during a joint US-Israeli attack, and for repeated Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
