Paramedics said an airstrike early Saturday morning targeted a police checkpoint in Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, killing at least six people and injuring others. It is not yet clear if all the victims were police officers. The Israeli army has not yet commented. Paramedics and police sources said that a series of Israeli airstrikes have killed dozens of police officers belonging to the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) since October. Israel and Hamas reached an agreement in October last year with American mediation to stop the violence in the Palestinian territories. Each side accuses the other of violating the agreement. Since the agreement was signed, at least 700 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, while four Israeli soldiers were killed by armed men during the same period.
