International media report that a group of Israeli settlers, including ministers in the government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, gathered at the border with the Gaza sector.
According to political analysts, visiting this territory, which Israel occupies in Palestine, may lead to increased tension in an already strained situation in the Middle East. Palestinian extremists accuse Israelis of violating rights and provocations.
"We will not passively watch as our enemies establish bases right at our gates," stated one of the Israeli ministers.
The dialogue between Israel and Palestine remains stalled, despite numerous international attempts at mediation.
