Israel has significantly reduced the entry of humanitarian aid into the area, despite tens of thousands of civilians refusing to comply with evacuation orders. According to Israeli data, only 34,000 tons of food entered in October, less than half compared to September.
UN agencies point out that effective aid is even lower due to Israeli restrictions, clashes, and the prevailing anarchy in Gaza. In an attempt to improve the situation, the Biden administration has warned it could reduce military support to Israel if violations persist.
Despite international criticism, Israel has taken some measures to alleviate the situation. However, actions have been recorded that worsen the humanitarian situation in northern Gaza, where it is estimated that one third of the Palestinians held there have died.
The measures implemented by Israel, such as increasing the number of aid trucks entering Gaza daily, have been inadequate according to international standards. Despite the efforts, the effective distribution of aid is hindered for various reasons, including the lack of access for humanitarian groups to certain areas.
The U.S. State Department acknowledges slight progress in increasing humanitarian aid to Gaza from Israel, but urges to maintain and improve these advances. Although some additional measures have been announced to facilitate the delivery of supplies, aid levels remain insufficient to meet the needs of the affected population in Gaza.
The situation in Gaza continues to be critical, with a large displaced population and extremely precarious living conditions. Despite efforts to increase humanitarian aid, greater commitment from Israel and the international community is required to address this ongoing crisis.
